MYP 1-2 IDU Tuning in for the theme Diversity, Equity, Justice, and Inclusion.- Ms Soma Guha

The students of grades 6 and 7 engaged in a Tuning In session for their Form Day centred around fostering an attitude of inclusion within our community in the first week of December 2023. The theme for  the form day this year is Diversity, Equity, Justice, and Inclusion. To kick off the interactive session, the students watched a thought-provoking Ted Talk by eleven-year-old Cole Blakeway .  He shared his heartwarming experiences and deep connection with his 44-year-old autistic uncle, emphasizing the importance of embracing differences.   In an effort to comprehend the diversity within our school, students from both grades actively participated by sharing their thoughts and perspectives. By looking at data collected from grade 6 and 7 students about their culture, learning style, food choices etc,  the students gained insight into the rich tapestry of cultures, learning styles, food preferences, and hobbies present within the community. Objective of the Learning Engagement:  Exploring and understanding static electricity Details of the Learning Engagement: Students were asked to explore and research about static electricity and represent their understanding pictorially. Impact of the engagement on students and reflection as a teacher: Students were very excited when they understood various real-life phenomenon happening due to static electricity. MYP 1 Mathematics- Understanding of Key words in Algebra- Deepika Gupta

Objective of Learning Engagement:  Understanding of Key words in Algebra - Variables, Terms, Algebraic Expressions, Like Terms and Combining the Like Terms. Details of Learning Engagement: Students were given cutouts of 2 -3 different colours and asked to group them as per their colours. While grouping in different colours they were explained the key word - variables. They then counted the number of cutouts of each colour to understand how to write an Algebraic Expression as a combination of numerical numbers and variables. (Eg 3b + 5r where b and r represent blue and red respectively) This led them to the keyword Terms - Like Terms and Unlike Terms. Followed by Combining of the like terms.
