Chemistry Mash-up Mania: Crafting chemistry with clay - MYP1- Prerna Karmarkar

Objective of the Learning Engagement: The objective of this activity is to help students understand and differentiate between elements, compounds, and mixtures through interactive and hands-on approaches. By creating and analyzing physical models using colored clay and participating in a role-play activity, students can visualize molecular structures, embody atomic interactions, and engage with abstract chemical concepts in a tangible and meaningful way, fostering deeper comprehension and retention. Details of the Learning Engagement: Project Task given: Students were assigned a task to create a 3D molecular model set using coloured clay balls to represent elements, compounds, and mixtures. Students worked in groups to construct and classify examples of each. Students will document their observations and reasoning for classifying models as elements, compounds, or mixtures in the provided reflection sheet. Analogical Connection: Students worked in groups to create 3D molecular models us...

Crime Scene Investigation -MYP 2- Meghna Kaushik

Objective of the Learning Engagement: Enhance problem solving and collaborative skills through a robbery investigation task involving Proportions and Percentage Details of the Learning Engagement: Students investigated a staged robbery case , with each station containing hidden clues in the form of proportion and percentage-based questions. They took on roles such as venom vets, cash trackers, space wizards, and chrono sleuths, strategizing in teams to analyze clues, eliminate suspects, and eventually solve the case. This dynamic setup also promoted differentiation in terms of process, environment and content. Impact of the engagement on students and reflection as a teacher: The activity fostered teamwork and problem solving skills with a deeper understanding of Proportions and Percentages. The differentiated roles allowed students to engage with the task as per their preferences. As a teacher, I observed that children were contributing to the task and were engaged as they took owners...

Unlocking the Secrets of Triangle Congruency Through Collaborative Learning in MYP 5 Mathematics- V. Nagarjuna

Objective of the Learning Engagement Types of Congruencies of triangles Details of the Learning Engagement: Is Little information about triangles enough to justify their congruency with each other?  In our recent mathematics class, we embarked on an engaging and interactive activity to deepen our understanding of triangle congruence. The objective was not only to grasp the concepts but also to enhance our skills in logical reasoning, proof presentation, and collaborative learning. Here's how it unfolded: Group Division and Task Assignment Students were divided into small groups, each assigned one of the fundamental triangle congruence criteria: Side-Side-Side (SSS) Side-Angle-Side (SAS) Angle-Side-Angle (ASA) Angle-Angle-Side (AAS) Right Angle-Hypotenuse-Side (RHS) Each group was tasked with thoroughly understanding their assigned congruence criterion. This included exploring the logic behind the criterion, preparing a detailed proof, and planning a presentation to explain it to th...

MYP 1 Visual Art- Learners engaged in creating Shades and Tints- Tinni Arora

Objective of the Learning Engagement: To learn how to create tints (light) and shades (dark) of different colors. Details of the Learning Engagement: Students watched a video and had a class discussion on how to create the light and dark hues of a particular color, called Tints and Shades respectively, by using just the base color, white and black. This exercise will help them in future to recognize different hues of the same color, practice color mixing and easily follow the same while painting. Impact of the engagement on students and reflection as a teacher: As each group of 3 or 4 students were asked to choose one base color, it was nice to see how beautifully they divided the work amongst themselves and guided each other. It was also a good exercise for us to teach them on how to use poster color as they rarely work with this medium in the appropriate manner. Video: Pictures: - Tinni Arora

MYP 5 Language and Literature - Non-Literary text analysis- Vivek Mukherjee

Objective of the Learning Engagement: Non-Literary text analysis Details of the Learning Engagement: Students worked in groups to analyse the essay "I Want a Wife" by Judy Brady that highlights issues like gender stereotypes and roles and societal expectations of women. Students were provided 3 guiding question which they had to answer after a class discussion of the essay. Students could use any presentation tool such as Canva/Prezi/Google Slides for their presentations. Students had to focus on the various lines of argument being used by the author, the figurative language used and assumptions about the audience and women that prompted the author to write the essay in context. Students needed to be aware of contextual limitations faced by women and their ways of trying to combat certain expectations. Impact of the engagement on students and my reflection as a teacher: Students were engaged in working on different presentation tools during the lesson. The tools afforded them...
