MYP 3 Theatre- Understanding elements of realism through realistic paintings- Anannya and Sukriti

Objective of the Learning Engagement: Understanding elements of realism through realistic paintings Details of the Learning Engagement: The Performing Art Gallery The class is divided in groups of five. We look at realistic paintings from 1800-1900. Carefully observe the quality of them. Try to recreate the paintings in groups and present it. Paintings : Impact of the engagement on students and reflection as a teacher: The exercise not only opened up a conversation on elements of realism but also enabled the learners to look at realism as a movement which connected drama of the everyday life and visual art. While embodying the images, learners asked questions about context, time period, clothing and various other aspects which were portrayed in the painting. -Anannya And Sukriti

MYP 1 Visual Arts- Creating Animal Sculptures using Clay- Tinni Arora

Objective of the Learning Engagement: Creating   Animal Sculpture by using their observation and creativity skills Details of the Learning Engagement: This exercise was to help improve students' observation skills. They were provided with plastic animals and were asked to incorporate any 3 specific feature of the animal into their sculpture. The whole idea of the exercise was not to copy the same animal but observe specific features and practice that using clay. While learning to sculpt they also practiced on the basics of using clay. It's an ongoing activity. Impact of the engagement on students and reflection as a teacher: It was interesting to see the little details they observed and also how creative they got while adding attributes of their own choice.
