Objective of the Learning Engagement:

Students will understand the benefits of yoga for physical and mental health. Students will practice yoga under the guidance of their peers.

Details of the Learning Engagement:

In the lesson, the class began with a brief discussion on the importance of physical fitness and mental well-being, introducing yoga as a method to achieve both. A student, who had prepared a PPT, presented the key benefits of yoga, including flexibility, strength, stress relief, and mental clarity, using visuals and simple explanations. The presentation was interactive, with students asking questions. Following this, the same student led a live demonstration of basic yoga poses such as Mountain Pose (Tadasana), Warrior Pose (Virabhadrasana), Tree Pose (Vrikshasana) explaining correct alignment and breathing techniques. Students were encouraged to ask questions and clarify doubts during the demonstration.

Impact of the engagement on students and reflection as a teacher:

The activity had a positive impact on the students, as it not only enhanced their understanding of the benefits of yoga but also engaged them in a practical, hands-on experience. The interactive presentation allowed students to actively participate and clarify any doubts, fostering a deeper connection to the topic. The live demonstration helped them grasp the correct postures and breathing techniques, making the practice more accessible and meaningful.

This sparked a lively debate in class, with many different perspectives coming to the surface. To wrap up, the students created posters that tried to justify Keller’s decision-making process from different angles.   Impact of the engagement on students and reflection as a teacher: It was inspiring to see such young learners engaging passionately with themes like war profiteering, morality, and survival under extraordinary circumstances.
