Objective of the Learning Engagement: The learning engagement connects to the SOI and use mathematics to understand and interpret the changes in design.

For the objects chosen, students must find the surface area and volume before and after the change in the design with full working of calculations being shown.
In their presentation, they should also include how the change in the design impacted the environment around them, market values and any other factors that are relevant to the objects. Also discuss whether the change has played a positive impact or negative impact on the environment and on the people’s perceptions.

Reflection from Student:

Participating in the learning engagement that required us to analyze the surface area, volume, and environmental impact of objects before and after design changes has been an enlightening experience. Initially, the idea of calculating these mathematical concepts seemed abstract, but as we worked through the calculations and presentations, we realized the practical relevance and real-world applications of these concepts.

By delving into the calculations, we not only honed our mathematical skills but also gained a deeper understanding of how design alterations can influence the physical properties of objects. Moreover, considering the environmental and market impact broadened our perspective beyond equations, highlighting the intricate relationship between design, sustainability, and market dynamics.

Presenting our findings and insights further boosted our communication skills and confidence. Explaining the calculations, design changes, and their consequences challenged us to articulate complex ideas clearly and concisely. Addressing the environmental impact aspect made us realize the responsibility that designers bear in shaping a more sustainable future.

In retrospect, this learning engagement has not only deepened our mathematical comprehension but also cultivated critical thinking, teamwork, and awareness of the broader implications of design decisions. We now appreciate the interconnectedness of design, mathematics, and the world around us, and we feel more equipped to make informed decisions in the future.

Facilitating the learning engagement centred on surface area, volume, and design impact has been an immensely rewarding experience. Witnessing students transition from abstract mathematical concepts to practical applications that affect their surroundings has been truly gratifying. It became evident that contextualizing mathematical principles with real-world scenarios not only heightened engagement but also motivated deeper understanding.

Through presentations that integrated mathematical data, design changes, and environmental considerations, students showcased a remarkable ability to synthesize complex information and articulate it effectively connecting to the units statement of Inquiry
Furthermore, students' reflections on the environmental impact of design choices underscored the importance of integrating sustainability into education. This engagement prompted thought-provoking discussions on the ethical responsibilities of designers and the potential ripple effects of their decisions on the world.

Objective of the Learning Engagement:  To study the motivations behind decision making Details of the Learning Engagement: Today in my Grade 9 English class, we explored the idea of decision-making and what drives people to make the choices they do. Our focus was Joe Keller’s fateful decision to ship faulty airplane parts in Arthur Miller’s timeless play All My Sons. Objective of the Learning Engagement: Review of Linear Functions: Escape the Chores Details of the Learning Engagement: In our recent MYP 4 Extended Math online class, we embarked on an exciting and engaging activity titled "Escape the Chores." This interactive challenge blended mathematics with a playful scenario, creating an unforgettable learning experience. The premise was simple: students were tasked with "escaping the chores" by correctly solving a series of mathematical questions based on Linear Functions. The activity was divided into five stages, each presenting a unique set of mathematical problems.
